Course Flow

This course has loads of treatment video to demonstrate some methods for treating a pregnant woman depending on her stage of pregnancy. When we have a place to start, we can expand from there with our own professional judgement to feel secure about what to do in our own practices. Every body is different, every patient has individual issues to address. Learn basic principles of treating pregnancy with this course for a solid foundation.

From start to finish you will see and hear Terra assess, treat and reassess 3 different pregnant women.

As osteopathic manual practitioners our goals are to reduce pain (sacral, SIJ, lumbar, thoracic, neck), discomfort, swelling and poor fluid mechanics, headache, carpal tunnel symptoms, poor balance, bladder leakage, and more... BUT ... Another main goal is to optimize the fetal lie, so the mother can deliver better, smoother and safer.

Part 1 We start by meeting Courtney (17 weeks - 2nd trimester): Intake and Standing Assessment. Next, we meet Teya (33 weeks - 3rd trimester): Intake and Standing Assessment

Part 2 Teya's treatment. Terra applies KT tape to help the uterine lie stay more centered, making the treatment effects last longer. We see her reassessment of Teya.

Part 3 Courtney's side-lying treatment and Ashley's (38 weeks and 3 days) are both interesting to compare and contrast because of the different stages they are at.

Part 4 Terra explains:

  • What to do in the 1st Trimester
  • Treatment scheduling and timing
  • Special treatment considerations
  • Red flags

Part 1

This video footage covers Courtney and Teya's intakes and standing assessments, and Teya's treatment in the seated position.

Part 2

Teya's treatment video, KT support taping, her comments on how treatment felt to her as an osteopathic manual practitioner herself, and we see her reassessment.

Part 3

Terra addresses specific problems that Courtney has due to a pre-existing condition. We see Courtney's reassessment. In a second video, we see Ashley's full treatment.

Part 4

Terra explains treatment considerations for the 1st trimester, among other topics. Links and resources are found here.
